The Jotun Penguard range of protective paints are fast drying, high build, 2-pack epoxy primer coatings that can be applied as an anti-corrosive primer or a standard intermediate coat in the process of protecting steel structures.

Penguard Express ZP is specially pigmented with zinc phosphate for increased corrosion protection and therefore is highly recommended for structures that are overly exposed to corrosive environments.

Structural Steel - infrastructure projects are usually protected with one to two coats of an epoxy primer and a topcoat, but these can be done away with. By applying a 2 coat Penguard Express coating to your structural project, the job can be completed within 8 hours if the temperature is around 10°C, or just 2 hours if the the temperature is increased to 40°C.

Exposed Steel - structures that are exposed to harsh atmospheric conditions need a long term, high durability coating system, and a typical system starts with a zinc rich primer, followed by 1 to 2 coats of epoxy with a topcoat finish. Penguard Express ZP is an epoxy primer that bonds with strong adhesion to both zinc primer and topcoat, therefore providing an well-suited protection system. The efficiency of Penguard Express ZP also makes it easy to finish a 3 coat system in just one day. Although it depends on the size of the structure somewhat, a coating system using Penguard Express ZP can be completed within 10 hours at 10°C, and where the temperature is as high as 40°C, it can be achieved in less than 3 hours.
